SENIOR ADULT MINISTRY

The righteous man shall flourish like the palm tree; he will grow like a cedar in Lebanon. Planted in the house of the Lord, they will flourish in the courts of our God. They will still yield fruit in old age; they shall be full of sap and very green.
Psalm 92:12-14

Maybe you thought life would settle down when you reached your “golden years.” No more constant activity, running to and fro! But as you have probably discovered, you never retire from God’s work. God sees senior adults as mature servants who have a lot to contribute to His kingdom work—still active in His service and growing more in His likeness.

Life in the senior years can be quite challenging and exciting as you continue actively serving the Lord and others. Our goal as we share the love of Jesus Christ with older members and friends is to bring seniors to a personal relationship with Christ and help them grow to be like Him.

Typically, senior adults are over 55 years old, but no age has actually been set. Anyone who wants to be part of the senior adult program is welcome. Whatever your age, you will discover fulfillment, joy and fellowship as you grow with us!

Opportunities to Serve

We have several programs that enable us to reach out to older citizens within the church and in the community. Seeking to meet their physical and spiritual needs, we also provide visitation to those confined to their homes or a care facility.

Adult Bible Fellowship

The largeness of the church makes the Adult Bible Fellowships important to our seniors. Several of these groups are made up of older members and they make the family of God a reality to each member. Click here for a complete list of Adult Bible Fellowships.

Grief Share

Not just for senior adults, Grief Share is an ongoing support program for anyone of any age who has gone through the death of someone close to them. The program is designed to bring insight into the process of grief and to bring together people able to encourage and support each other in this difficult time of life. The combination of instruction and small group sharing can bring the peace of God to troubled hearts. It assists in the journey from grieving to joy. We meet on Wednesdays, 6:45 p.m.-8:00 p.m., fall through spring.

Grapevine

A newsletter designed just for senior adults is published monthly. The Grapevine keeps everyone informed on the latest information about the people and events of the program.

“The Golden Heirs”

Our recently formed Senior Adult Choir provides an opportunity for a “spiritual and musical walk down memory lane!” We enjoy singing and fellowship on a regular basis.

Activities

F.E.A.S.T. - First Monday Luncheon

Our monthly luncheon brings a large number of seniors together for a wonderful meal and program of interest. Many visitors first become involved in the Senior Adult Ministry through this luncheon.

Food and Fun

There are many opportunities to travel to exciting places and to visit local restaurants. With a range from canoe trips to motor coach trips, there is something for everyone.

“Grand Event”

Our annual “big” event is one of the highlights of the year for senior adults. Previous events include a Wild West BBQ, Hawaiian Luau, and Mexican Fiesta. These events provide lots of excitement, fun in a Christian atmosphere, and are a great opportunity to invite friends.
